Johnny Depp and Edgar Wright Team Up

February 23, 2012 By Mike B

Kolchak: the Night Stalker is going to the big-screen, hopefully sooner than later. Johnny Depp is planning to star in the leading role, and Edgar Wright will be on board as well. Who can deny a Wright and Depp combo? No one. That’s who.

Disney and Depp’s production company, Infinitum Nihil, will develop the Night Stalker project, and Depp will star as Carl Kolchak. Kolchak is a journalist that investigates supernatural crimes. So far, there is no word whether or not this will be set in present time or if it will be a period piece.

So far there have been two made-for-TV movies and an original series, and both were written by the legendary Richard Matheson (I Am Legend). This seems like a perfect project for Wright to do because Horror Comedies are his cup of tea. What would be amazingly awesome is if Simon Pegg and/or Nick Frost make at least a cameo.

Unfortunately, this film will have to stick to a PG-13 rating because, well, it’s a Disney film. As if kids don’t watch the Paranormal Activity films.
